Jonathan Ring - Venture Partner

Jonathan Ring has extensive experience managing both small and large organizations. He has a broad technology background that includes sophisticated software development, such as operating system development, database applications, multi-media, communication protocol technology, and hardware/software interfaces.

Most recently Jonathan Ring is the Founder and President of Caringo, an unstructured data management company that has formed relationships with Global 5000 companies, including Dell. He has previously invested in and worked on deals that are primarily focused on software technology. The target result of his activities has been in the following areas: investment, debt, merger and acquisition, risk evaluation, technology feasibility, emerging market opportunity, strategic planning, and engineering operations.

Prior to Sentient Ventures and Caringo, Jonathan was Vice President of Engineering at Siebel Systems responsible for software engineering (300 people.) He was at Siebel from 1996 to 2002 during which grew revenue from $4M to $2B. His exceptional strategic and analytical skills were integral to Siebel Systems becoming the leader in the CRM (client relationship management) sector. He was also a member of the Founders Circle, an internal board that meets bi-annually to create major programs and set strategic direction for the company.

At Siebel, Jonathan built and ran quality engineering, engineering services, technical support, automation tools and technology development. He built a management team, release process, and quality process that resulted in top quality products through 5 major releases that included 130 applications with millions of lines of code. He also established an engineering training organization, and managed the build out of engineering facilities.

Prior to Siebel, Jonathan worked at Comdisco as Chief Architect and Vice President of Network and System Management. He built a new Professional Services group focusing on communications, network and system management.

At TechGnosis, a Belgian based client server connectivity software company, Jonathan Ring served as Vice President of R&D. He managed the organization in multiple sites across North America and Europe. Jonathan led the company from a consulting organization with one platform technology to a world-class commercial software company supporting a wide variety of platforms with an expanded product set.

At IBM Jonathan was a hardware and software interlock lead across ESD. Responsibilities included strategy for exploitation and support of hardware on Windows, OS/2 and AIX. He was the primary interface to Microsoft, represented IBM at standard committees, and presented at IBM Share conferences globally. In addition, he establish a System Test group that tested the first four versions of OS/2, both English and international language version.

Jonathan was the architect and designer of ULANA (Unified Local Area Network Architecture) Booz Allen & Hamilton and Interactive Data Corporation.
